Redactable’s Bates Numbering feature provides a much needed structure while automating the document numbering and labelling process. With this feature you can add customizable numbers, prefixes, and suffixes.

Using Bates Numbering
Customizing Bates Numbering
- Open your document in Redactable.
2. Go to the toolbar and select “Bates Numbering."

3. Choose where the Bates number will appear on the page (e.g., top left, bottom right).
4. Set the number of digits for the sequence (e.g., 001, 002), define the starting point for your sequence, and the starting number to control the sequence from where you want it to begin.
5. Add a prefix or suffix if needed. For example, “Case #” or “2023”.

6. Select the pages or page range where Bates Numbers should be applied.
7. Use the “Preview” feature to confirm placement and formatting.
Finalizing Bates Numbering
8. Once confirmed, click on “Add Bates Numbering.”
9. A confirmation message will appear indicating that the numbers have been successfully saved.
Updating Bates Numbering
10. To update Bates Numbering, go to the toolbar and select "Bates Numbering.”
11. Click on “Update Bates Numbering.”
12. A confirmation message will appear indicating that the numbers have been successfully updated.
Deleting Bates Numbering
13. To start over, use the “Delete” function to remove the current bates numbering. Once deleted, you can reapply as needed.
