How Can I Convert Different File Types to PDF for Redaction?

Currently, Redactable supports redaction for PDF files only. To use Redactable for redacting confidential information, you need to convert your files into PDF format. Below, you'll find instructions for converting different file types into PDFs. Once you’ve converted your files, you can upload the PDFs to Redactable for redaction.


Converting Emails to PDF

  1. Open the email you need to save.
  2. Click on the Print icon (usually represented by a printer symbol).
  3. In the Destination window, select "Save as PDF."
  4. Choose a location on your computer where you want to save the PDF.
  5. Click "Save."


Converting Microsoft Word Documents to PDF

  1. Open the Microsoft Word document you want to convert.
  2. Click on "File" in the top-left corner.
  3. Select "Save As".
  4. In the dialog box, choose "PDF" from the "Save as type" dropdown menu.
  5. Choose a location on your computer to save the PDF.
  6. Click "Save."


Converting Excel Spreadsheets to PDF

  1. Open the Excel spreadsheet you need to convert.
  2. Click on "File" in the top-left corner.
  3. Select "Save As".
  4. Choose "PDF" from the "Save as type" dropdown menu.
  5. Choose a location on your computer to save the PDF.
  6. Click "Save."


Converting PowerPoint Presentations to PDF

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation you want to convert.
  2. Click on "File" in the top-left corner.
  3. Select "Save As".
  4. Choose "PDF" from the "Save as type" dropdown menu.
  5. Choose a location on your computer to save the PDF.
  6. Click "Save."


Converting Text Files to PDF

  1. Open the text file you want to convert.
  2. Select "Print" from the File menu (or press Ctrl + P or Cmd + P).
  3. In the Print dialog, choose "Save as PDF" from the list of printers.
  4. Choose a location on your computer to save the PDF.
  5. Click "Save."


Uploading Your PDF to Redactable

Once you’ve saved your document as a PDF, you can easily upload it to Redactable for redaction:

  1. Log in to your Redactable account.
  2. Click the + Upload Files button and select the PDF file you just converted.

  3. You will be prompted to choose the "Project" folder to which you want to upload your file(s).
  4. You can choose to drag & drop or upload files from your device or third-party services.
  5. Once your file is uploaded, click on its file name to enter the redaction tool.
