Draft Redactions Feature

Modified on Mon, Feb 17 at 3:20 PM

Before Draft Redactions, shared PDFs did not indicate which content was marked for redaction. Users could see redactions within the app using the redaction preview feature, but once exported, the document displayed either fully redacted or unredacted text, without any indication of what was marked for removal. This made it difficult for reviewers to verify redactions before finalizing them. Without a way to isolate redactions, it was easy to overlook sensitive information. Additionally, draft and final versions looked similar, creating confusion and increasing the risk of using the wrong document.

Now, Draft Redactions simplifies this process. It creates a document that only shows the text marked for redaction, making it easier to check for accuracy.

The draft file includes:

  • Color-coded highlights matching redaction settings.
  • A clear “draft” watermark to prevent confusion.
  • A distinct .DRAFT.pdf file extension to separate drafts from final versions.

Why it matters

The Draft Redactions feature allows you to quickly review and adjust redactions before finalizing. It makes the review process easier and safer than ever.

Here are some of the key benefits:

  • Isolated Review: Focus only on the text marked for redaction without surrounding distractions.
  • Color-Coded Highlights: Matches redaction settings for a consistent and clear visual reference.
  • Clear Draft Identification: A “DRAFT” watermark ensures reviewers recognize the document’s status.
  • Distinct File Extension: The .DRAFT.pdf format prevents confusion between draft and final versions.
  • Simplified Compliance Reviews: Legal teams and compliance officers can quickly verify redactions without scanning the entire document.
  • Reduced Risk of Errors: Ensures all necessary redactions are accounted for before finalization.
