Draw Template Feature

Modified on Fri, May 30 at 11:12 AM

Manually redacting the same section across every page of a long document, like a name field, a logo, or a footer, is slow, repetitive, and easy to get wrong. You have to carefully draw the same boxes over and over, apply the same redaction reason each time, and double-check every page to make sure nothing was missed.

The Draw Template feature eliminates this by letting you create one redaction layout and automatically applying it to every page that shares the same structure. You simply draw a set of redaction boxes on a page, choose the redaction reasons for each, and the system will copy those boxes to all other pages with the same layout. All the boxes stay linked—so if you move, edit, delete, or change the reason for one, the changes reflect across all of them instantly.

This is especially helpful when working with documents that have repeated visual patterns, like government forms, scanned reports, legal packets, or presentations. If the same fields or elements appear in the same position on each page, this feature lets you redact them all in one go, without having to touch each page manually.

Why it matters

The Draw Template feature is designed to make redacting large or multi-page documents easier by:

  • Eliminating repetitive work: Draw a redaction box once, and it automatically replicates on all following pages.
  • Ensuring consistency: Any edits you make (like changing a reason or deleting a box) update across all linked instances.
  • Speeding up high-volume tasks: Ideal for headers, footers, form fields, images, charts, or repeated layouts across long documents.
  • Reducing manual errors: Live-linking ensures no page is accidentally missed.

Using the Draw Template feature

Accessing the tool

    1. To start the redaction, click the Draw Template button on the top of the dashboard.

    2. A “Draw Redaction enabled” message appears at the top of your document to confirm you’re in Draw Template mode.

Applying Redactions
    3. To apply redactions, draw one or more boxes on the current page. A purple border marks Draw Template redactions (only visible in edit mode).

    4. The same boxes appear automatically on all following pages at the same place.

Adding redactions reasons
    5. To apply a redaction reason, add it to a redaction box.

    6. The change will sync across all boxes.

    7.  To delete the redaction reason, click on the three dots in the redaction box and choose if you want to delete the reason from that redaction box or for all redaction boxes.

Deleting redactions

    8. To delete the redaction, click on the redaction box and click on “Delete Redaction.”

   9. The change updates across all linked pages.
